The greatest threat to the Asian elephant's survival is the demolishing of its natural habitat by man. Deforestation and farming are clearing away their food source, causing many of these magnificent animals to die of starvation. A further reason why this animal is endangered is to do with the fact that they are being hunted for their ivory tusks. This practice is illegal, yet poachers still earn lots of money for the elephant's tusks.
People illegally kill them for their tusks, and they use the tusks for ivory:(
Elephants are in such danger because of poachers that will hunt and kill an elephant for it's skin and tusks. Elephants are pregnant for up to two years, so their reproductive systems are slow and their numbers are descreasing faster than they reproduce.
