The blue whale is killed or shot out by whalers for the tremendous quantities of oil and meat that it provided, and yes it is now an endangered species, because of pollution, over-hunting, and other causes such as global warming.

∙ 15y agoThere are very few blue whales as they were greatly hunted in the 1700-1800s because of their large size, being mistaken for sharks or attacking animals. Laws are now being created to protect the blue whales for poaching and being hunted.
