The external nose is composed of cartilaginous tissue not unlike bone, but far more flexible in composition. This is because your nasal passages need to be able to expand and contract in response to changing environmental conditions such as heat, moisture and wind, as well as mucus production or physical injury. We are actually designed to breathe through our nose whenever possible, because the extra few moments before the air reaches our lungs allows cold air to warm up, hot air to cool down and dirty or polluted air to be scrubbed clean by our nasal hairs and mucus membranes. Breathing through your mouth leads to various medical issues if overdone, so it's fortunate that our noses are so flexible or anyone living in cold/very wet conditions year-round would be in trouble!
Your nose and ears are not made of bone, they are mostly made up of cartlidge.
This is a myth. The nose is mainly malleable cartilage. The cartilage may feel sharp on the end that you see. But the bony part of your skull to which it attaches is rounded and blunt on the portion that faces your brain So, the nose is no more vulnerable to a blow to your head than any other part of your skull. It may be even less vulnerable because the nose lies below the brain and not adjacent to it.
Approximately the top 1/4 ot the external part of the nose is made of bone and the whole od the internal nasal cavity is within bone but the main part of the external nose is cartillage. yes it has a small bone
As you touch the area of your temple region about as high as your ear straight forward towards the nose you can feel the muscle there which can be found easily by clenching your jaw repetitively, go to the top of the muscle towards the peak of your head about two inches above the edge of the muscle and that is the supperiorlateral part of the cranium. Often injuried in a head trauma. Hope that helps.
