Cycles are things that repeat themselves...like a circle. The water cycle, like all other cycles, has no beginning or end.

Simply:

  • water vapour evaporates from the sea, lakes rivers and other masses of water when the water is heated by the sun.
  • The water vapour rises into the atmosphere and condenses to form clouds.
  • Water falls as precipitation ( rain snow ice etc) onto the land and ends up in the rivers lakes and sea and the process starts again.

Main parts are evaporation condensation precipitation.

This is a basic version there are other things that are sources of water such as transpiration from vegetation.

Because it is a cycle of water .First evaporation then condensation then precipitation and all over again.

The Water Cycle is called a water cycle because it's a cycle (repeating steps) and in this cycle, it's about water being 'recycled'

It is the circular path of water in its various phases that gives the hydrological cycle its term cycle. The cycle begins with evaporation (from the ocean say), follows through condensation as clouds and falls as precipitation. There can be complications. Evaporation can occur from water bodies OR through leaves as evaporation. Precipitation can be in the liquid form of rain OR of snow. Some may be trapped as Antarctic ice for years. But, at the very end, all newly precipitated H2O lands up evaporating again. And the cycle goes on and on. I hope this gives an indication of why the water cycle is considered cyclical.

They are called cycles because they involve circular processes. Resources return back to original states.

Because the movement is circular, or cyclical. Water moves from the oceans up into the atmosphere, it falls as rain or snow, runs down rivers and back into the oceans.

The name water cycle is suitable for the movement of water on earth because cycle is a movement that moves around and repeats itself which is what the earths water cycle does.
