It was not until the mid 18 hundreds that the British medical fraternity invented a medical reason for circumcision. all of which was nonsense as one would expect from that era.. and this led to a spate of non religions or medically inspired circumcisions in the English speaking countries with doctors convincing their marks (patients) that circumcision was good for their children. The US is the last bastion of this type of reasoning where it is still a multy million dollar business and is added to by a lucrative marked in baby foreskins for the cosmetics and skin market. It is generally accepted that circumcision is not needed except in very rare circumstances to treat existing penile conditions.
