That light either indicates that the airbag is on/off. The passenger seat has a smart sensor within it which senses the weight and position of what/who is in the seat. Coupled with/without seat belt usage it will turn on/off depending on exact situation in that seat as to function or not based on it's calculated determination.
There is a problem with the SRS. This should still be under warranty. Take it back to your GM dealer for repair.
headlight adjustment on 2000 GMC yukon?
why does my service control light come on
My "Passenger Airbag Off" light is illuminated even when I have a passenger is in the right seat. Isn't there a sensor in the right seat that is supposed to turn the airbag on when I have a passenger?
To reset service ride control light on yukon detail one must use their manual to determine which button or switch is used to reset the control light properly.
No. The Magnum has a sensor in the passenger seat that detects if there is sufficient weight to turn the airbag on. With the vehicle running, sit in the driver's seat reach over and push down on the passenger seat. You will notice the "Passenger Airbag OFF" light right above the stereo going off and on.
It is the passenger disarming airbag light indicator, it indicates that the passenger airbag has been disarmed. This indicates a problem within the airbag system. You should have the dealer read the trouble code to find the problem with the airbag system and fix the problem.
This is a safety feature that is designed to turn off the passenger airbag if there is a child (or smaller adult) in the passenger seat that the airbag is not designed for. If there isn't anyone/anything in the seat while this is happening, this would suggest a faulty sensor.
The passenger airbag weight system needs to be recalibrated.
I have a Toyota as well and it means that it has been activated for the passenger. when the seat feels any weight in it, it will activate the airbag.
You can't with out causing the airbag light to be on permanently.
Take this truck to a professional for repair. Working on the SRS is hazardous and is not a DIY repair. Something is wrong with the SRS or the light would not be on.
