The Spanish Golden Age was a period of great achievements in the arts and literature in Spain. This coincided with the rise and fall of the Spanish Habsburgs in 1492, with the completion of the Reconquista and the voyages of Christopher Columbus, and ended with the Treaty of the Pyrenees in 1659.
