Photosynthesis is the chemical reaction that occurs in plants to make food, using sunlight and other minerals from the ground (and don't forget water!) to make glucose (a type of plant sugar).

Now, as we all know, EVERYTHING in the world eats plants or is plants. I mean, you cant name ONE SINGLE living organism that either isn't a plant or doesnt eat plants. Carnivores eat other animals (omnivores or herbivores) that have eaten plants. So basically, its just one bigs chain of life, starting with photosynthesis, then plants, then herbivores, omnivores, and carnivores.
