The runaway speed of a hydraulic turbine is the speed at which the turbine coupled to the generator runs at the maximum possible speed due to loss of load and this happens until the shut off valves completely closes the discharge from the penstock.

the runaway speed of the turbine is determined by the turbine designer and is influenced by the maximum discharge of water from the penstock, the combined inertia of the turbine runner and the generator and the flywheel.

this factor can vary from 1.5 up to 3 times the nominal speed of the turbine and is determined by the turbine designer considering all the load parameters.

What turbine trip is designed to occur at 10 percent above normal operation?

Overspeed trip.

How dual circuit hydraulic brakes work?

They work like normal hydraulic breaks do. The difference is that the hydraulic liquid cicuit is doubbled and independent from its doubble. The consquence: If one hydraulic circuit is broken, the other one delivers still the full break energy. If you know some German, please look up at wikipedia the term "Zweikreisbremsanlage". There is more technical explanation Frank

Why are hydraulic lift tables better then normal lift tables?

Hydraulic Lift Tables Can Lift a Lot More Weight Than Regular Lift Tables. Also Hydraulic Lift Tables Are Much Safer Since the Fluid Provides Extra Rigidity to the Lifting Structure Versus Purely Mechanical Means.

What is a wet start in turbine engines?

Normally when starting a turbine engine, the starter is used to get the turbine up to operational speeds, then fuel is pumped in with the ignition active. A "wet start" is a start where the engine is being started with a quantity of fuel already pooled in the engine (perhaps the result of a previous failed start) or the pilot delays ignition beyond what is normal and allows fuel to pool in the engine before ignition. Wet starts can result in a fire plume or a loud bang, and may damage the engine. The most dramatic damage will be to the compresser turbine blades due to pressure and heat failure.

Why a normal machine could not have the mechanical efficiency of 100?

Because there is always going to be friction, the efficiency of any machine will always be less then 100 percent.

Can normal Helios become turbine Helios?

No, turbine Helios has a special mechanism that Helios doesn't. This mechanism is powered by a ripcord and spins the turbine Helios.

What is the Normal temperature of hydraulic oil?

room temperature.

What is cheaper a wind turbine or normal electricity?

normal, its terrible if they want people to be green n stuff

How much does normal wind turbine cost?

Depends on what you mean by normal! A home wind turbine can cost between $7,000 and $100,000. Industrial turbines (that you see on wind farms) cost 1-2 million.

What does the airplane sound like?

airplanes make turbine power going up at take-off.In mid-air it makes a turbine at normal speed. At landing it makes turbine cooling down sound.

What happens when the turbine uses up all the water for hydroelectric?

The water doesn't actually get used up, instead it passes through the turbine and continues on like normal. However, it will have been slowed down by the turbine.

What is included in a hydraulic power pack?

In a normal hydraulic power pack you get a pump and motor to power it, the hoses, hydraulic fluid to fill it with as well as the rams to power whatever it is that you are using to connect to the pump and lines.

If you have a pump with 260KW absorbed power at pump shaft and you want to run it on steam turbine then the steam consumption will be based on aborbed power by pump shaft or the steam turbine power?

Pump power is based on BHP = Hydraulic horse power + pump mechanical efficiency Absorbed power = BHP + electric motor eficiency in your case you dont need to account for power absorbed by pump shaft as it would include motor efficiency. your steam consumption will be based on following : normal operating = based on BHP of pump Maximum required = turbine rated power

In what situations would one use a hydraulic clamp?

The major benefit of a hydraulic clamps is the enormous time saved in clamping and unclamping the components, the hydraulic clamp is usd in any situation a normal clmp could be used.
