It will be necessary to explain where this plug is located. There are three prong plugs all over that car.
My guess is the plug is to a block heater - a device that is commonly installed in cars that live in areas that suffer extreme cold.
This device will keep the engine oil warmed up, making starting the car a whole lot easier and far less damaging to the engine and hugely draining on the battery.
If it's a normal electrical type plug, you're about 99.44% sure that's exactly what it is.

The 2006 Ford Taurus radiator drain plug is located on the bottom of the radiator. The drain plug can be removed with a half inch ratchet.
This doesn't totally answer your question , but on a 1997 Ford Taurus wagon you refill the liftgate washer fluid reservoir by opening the liftgate and you will see a rubber plug below the passenger side taillight . So the reservoir for the rear windshield must be behind the interior trim in the cargo area
