∙ 15y agoAll forms of smoke contain harsh chemicals that cause irritation of the epithelial layers of the throat. These by-products of combustion cause the thin layers of cells to become inflamed and the nerves nearby to them register this as pain. Smoke is not a natural thing to inhale!

Helps cool down the heat in your throat from smoking, feels extremely relieving having a drink if you start coughing, and helps if you get cotton mouth. It also seems to fade away a bit with time. I used to get cotton mouth very badly when I first starting smoking, but now after about 6 years I only get it rarely.
