Tnt carries lots of gun powder which is lit off bye a rope covered in solid gas with gun powder. The rope then ignites the explosive which gives off a blast of heat and thermal energy and also a blast of light which can destroy anything in its way.
TNT Blows up, by the same way that your gas stove burns. Its a rapid expansion of gases that is the result of chemical reacations producing heat. If you mix the TNT with sawdust you get dynamite. ( Thanks Alfred Nobel ). If you try and restrict the expansion of gasses, you get a sudden unleashing of great pressure. ( Hence you get an explostion ).
WARNING: The expermentation and use of TNT is extrodinarly dangerous. The fatality rate used to be the highest in the world.
TNT explodes rather than burns due to the presence of three nitrate groups (NO2) on each molecule. This means that, as the TNT combusts, it releases oxygen, which is needed for further combustion. Therefore, TNT burns extremely quickly, being both a source of fuel and of oxygen, and it burns so quickly and releases carbon dioxide and water so quickly that the pressure released by it is huge and it is classed as exploding.
One of two things: megatons and metric tons. Megaton- A TNT equivalent for rating the power of an explosive device. Metric ton- a mass unit equal to 1,000 kg.
Many explosive devices consist of a primary and a secondary explosive. The primary consists of a small amount of an explosive that is very easily set off. The primary creates a small explosion that sets off the secondary explosive, which consists of a material that is much harder to set off; usually a primary explosive is the only way. The secondary explosive provides most of the energy of the device, with the primary simply being a trigger. The use of primary and secondary explosives allows for explosive devices that are less likely to go off accidentally.
It may take a thousand of tons on TNT to pack a nuclear bomb. But to destroy the earth, it may take billions to trillions tons of TNT plus a nuclear igniter to blow the earth to bits of dust.
19 lbs
A mixture of substances that may explode under the right circumstances. Powdered flour dispersed thru air will explode if a spark is present. Gunpowder is an explosive mixture, not a compound. Nitroglycerine is NOT an explosive mixture. It is an explosive compound.
TNT is short for Trinitrotoluene it is a high explosive.
yes
TNT
TNT. Liquid Oxygen is not an explosive.TNT
Yes,one kilogram of Caesium explosive is enough to be on par with TNT.
