Tom Robinson is a mockingbird in that he never hurt anyone, never did anything wrong or caused trouble. All he ever did was attempt to help Miss Ewell, to have pity on her. By sentencing him to death, the jury metaphorically "killed a mockingbird."

Tom Robinson is compared to a mockingbird in "To Kill a Mockingbird" because, like a mockingbird, he is a symbol of innocence and vulnerability. He is a kind and gentle man who has committed no crime but is wrongfully accused and judged purely based on his race. Just like it would be a sin to kill a mockingbird, it is seen as a great injustice to convict Tom Robinson.

Tom Robinson is characterized by what the people of Maycomb County say about him. After being accused of rape, most of the people see him as an evil beast. During the trial while Bob Ewell testifies, he points to Tom Robinson and says, "I seen that black negro yonder ruttin' on my Mayella." (p.73) According to Mr. Ewell, Tom Robinson is an animal who tormented and violated his daughter.

to follow up on this as Atticus and ms maudie say it is a sin to kill a mocking bird so is it coincidence that when tom was killed bob ewell started to 'trouble' those who were publicly on tom's side.

Tom resembles a mockingbird because in the beginning of the book, atticus says its a sin to kill a mocking bird because they do nothing to you but sing beautiful music . so it would be a sin to kill tom Robinson because he's done nothing wrong

Mockingbirds are known for doing nothing but good, despite their name. They are innocent and all they do is make beautiful music for us. Tom Robinson was accused of rape. He didnt really rape Mayella, but he ends up dying, all because of racism... You'd have to read the book to completely understand.

Yes because it is a sin to kill him, and he did nothing but try to help Mayella and "make her life a little easier", but that quote is about a mockingbird from Miss Maudie.

He is innocent and never tries to harm anyone, rather, he tried to help Mayella Ewell, his very accuser.

Tom Robinson is compared to a Mockingbird because as Miss Maudie said, mockingbirds are harmless and they make the most beautiful music. Tom Robinson is also harmless and innocent.
