Because, just like air, water mostly covers up/or surrounds almost all of earth. Water is a liquid in which erosion can occur quickly. It moves fast and it carries out more rock or sediment particles.

Water causes most erosion of all: three out of four types of erosion are water:

  • Oceanic
  • Fluvial (Rivers)
  • Glacial

This means that water is constantly shaping and reshaping the surface of the earth, and is far more important than the Wind (the fourth type). The action of water is particularly important because it accounts for the following:

  • Coastal recession
  • The removal of beaches (Long-shore drift)
  • The formation of steep cliffs
  • The formation of gorges, steep sided valleys (V-shaped valleys) and meanders
  • The formation of Deltas, which result in coastal flooding
  • The flattening of valley floors
  • The formation of Corries (or Cwms and Cirques), Pyramidal Peaks, U-shaped valleys, drumlins and others

I hope you find this useful.

Water is denser then air thus exerting much more force on particle also it gives abrasion effect and it moves toward gravity force unlike air and particle eroded by air as particle move towards gravity but air move toward low pressure
