That is normal. The fluid expands when heated.
Transmission fluid will show full when it is cold, but low when it is hot if it is low on fluid. Transmission fluid has to be checked when the car is warm.
It is recommended to check fluid in a warm engine, not an overheated engine.
You check the transmission fluid when its hot
The automatic transmission fluid level on a 1982 Mercedes 230TE is checked by allowing the vehicle to reach operating temperature and removing the dipstick. The fluid should reach the hot mark and if not, fluid added as needed.
Low fluid level, and/or dirty filter. If hot rodded, then extra wear on the transmission.
It means that your transmission has been hot and the fluid has overheated. If the transmission is still functioning properly then have the fluid and filter changed ASAP.
That depends on the make and model, some are meant to be checked cold, other warm or hot. That depends on the make and model, some are meant to be checked cold, other warm or hot.
make sure car is on level ground...open hood...pull transmission dip stick...check transmission fluid level...if low, fill to cold fluid level on dip stick.....start the motor..let the car warm up....check fluid level again....fill to hot level on transmission dip stick....use manufacturer's recommended transmission fluid........usually instructions are on dip stick... make sure car is on level ground...open hood...pull transmission dip stick...check transmission fluid level...if low, fill to cold fluid level on dip stick.....start the motor..let the car warm up....check fluid level again....fill to hot level on transmission dip stick....use manufacturer's recommended transmission fluid........usually instructions are on dip stick...
It COOLS the transmission fluid down and keeps it from getting to HOT.
No real difference
you pour it down the transmission dipstick tube.....use a funnel.and only check the transmission fluid level when the fluid is hot....(use a thick towel)..... and add as much as needed to get the level to the hot mark on dipstick...... ,Neal
The first thing to check is transmission fluid level. Start the car and let it warm up to normal running temperature. With the engine still running, pull the dipstick for the transmission fluid and verify that it's in the "hot" range. If you are low on fluid, look for any transmission fluid leaks. Look primarily around the oil seals where the axel enters the transmission, and inspect the gasket for the transmission pan.
