The two are in fact combined in certain over-the-counter medications. There are, as far as I know, no adverse interactions between the two... they're both used to treat headache pain, but they don't work the same way.

The reasons you shouldn't take either of them "regularly" are several:

  1. If you need to, that's an indication that maybe there's some more severe problem that you should see a physician about.
  2. Paracetamol in particular is a nasty, vile compound that will kill your liver. The dose you have to take for effective pain relief is surprisingly close to the dose that will cause liver damage. Taking it on a regular basis means your liver is always having to deal with its toxic metabolites.
  3. Taking aspirin on a regular basis is also not good, though it's not quite as toxic. It's rather irritating to the stomach lining, and increases the risk of bleeding in parts of the body you'd rather not have bleeding, like the upper gastrointestinal tract and the brain.
