Usually if you use something warm on an ear that is giving you trouble, it will help. The same idea involves the onions. You are supposed to heat the onion before putting in your ear. But a problem that needs antibiotics really should be taken care of by a doctor not an onion. An infection can lead to broken eardrums that ooze pus.

Putting a nice warm onion in the ear canal is supposed to cure ear aches. But it is really a just myth. Anything warm will make the ear feel better but it can't cure an infected ear. Bacteria are not going to be killed this way.
I know of an at home remedy for a major earache I had a few months ago. All you have to do is get an onion, chop it up a bit so that there are pieces small enough to fit in your ear and then put them in your ear. Be sure to have plenty of onion strings ready as the onion juice seems to get absorbed. =/ Though, you only need about half an onion. Then when you find that some of the onions are useless what i did was microwave them to a heat hot enough to sooth your ear. By the end of all that my earache of 4 days was gone in 20 minutes. The onion juice is supposed to kill the bacteria. But the onion itself is moist enough so you only have to stick some of the actual onion in there to get the effect. The heat from the microwaved onions is supposed to also get rid of the earache. Another thing that you could do that i haven't tried if that doesn't work for you, (which it should) is maybe blend some onion. Or use a juicer and put a few drops of that in your ears at a time. But i haven't tried this so....Good luck! this is not true if you do this you are risking getting a very bad infection along with then having to get your ear syringed or vacumed which is very painful
Yes! I do that all the time.
I'm not sure, But the best thing to do is not put them in your ear in the first place!
