If you start on the equator and travel straight north, let's say, then your

latitude begins at zero, gets higher and higher as you get farther from

the equator, and reaches 90 degrees when you get to the north pole.

If you just sail on over the top and keep going, down the other side, then

you start getting closer to the equator on the other side, and your latitude is

decreasing now. 90 degrees was the farthest you could get from the equator.

How are parallels of latitude numbered?

Parallels of latitude are numbered by degrees north or south of the equator. The equator is zero degrees, while the north pole is at 90N and the south pole at 90S. Depending on the scale of your map or the size of your globe, the printed lines of latitude may be every degree, every 5 degrees or every 15 degrees.

What is 90s latitude 30 e longitude?

90 S latitude is the south pole. The longitude is irrelevant, because all longitudes converge there.

Which continent includes the coordinates of 90s latitude 30e longitude?

90° South latitude is the south pole, which is located on the Antarctic continent. The longitude doesn't even matter, because ALL longitudes converge at the poles.

Where are you at 200 degrees latitude and 200 degrees longitude?

In the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Africa. Exactly where depends on whether longitude is east or west, and whether latitude is north or south.=============================2° North latitude / 2° WestlongitudeThe point is offshore in the Gulf of Guinea, about 275 miles south-southwest ofAccra, Ghana, and 810 miles west of Bata, Equatorial Guinea.2° North latitude / 2° EastlongitudeThe point is offshore in the Gulf of Guinea, about 290 miles south-southeast ofAccra, Ghana, and 535 miles west of Bata, Equatorial Guinea.2° South latitude / 2° WestlongitudeThe point is offshore in the Gulf of Guinea, about 535 miles south-southwest ofAccra, Ghana, and 750 miles west-southwest of Port-Gentil, Gabon.2° South latitude / 2° EastlongitudeThe point is offshore in the Gulf of Guinea, about 540 miles south-southeast ofAccra, Ghana, and 480 miles west-southwest of Port-Gentil, Gabon.

Is the equator located at 0 degrees longitude 0 degrees latitude or 180 degrees longitude?

No. Believe the accepted is Zero(0). Hence the North Pole is at +90, and the South Pole is at -90. Or 90N and 90S. Latitude Lines are accepted to be measured in Degrees/minutes. Therefore if a radius "line" at the Equator is "lifted" 1.0 degree in a Northerly direction, the point of the line at the circumference at 1.0 degree North. If one were to draw a line from that point around the entire perfect sphere(which the Earth is not), then a line of Latitude could be referenced as 1.0 Degree North Latitude.

How much major lines of latitude are there?

The "lines of latitude" are a system of measurement; they don't actually have a physical existence in the real world. So the answer is either "none" or "an infinite number". "MAJOR latitude lines" would depend on the scale of your map; generally either 15 degrees per line or 10 degrees per line. We measure latitude in degrees north or south of the equator; the north pole is 90N, and the south pole is 90S. So there are 90 degrees north or south - but each degree is subdivided into 60 minutes, and each minute is subdivided in to 60 seconds, and you can use decimals to subdivide the seconds. Each minute of latitude works out to one nautical mile on the ground, so each second of latitude is about equal to 34 yards. There are five latitude lines that actually have some physical significance. First is the equator, at zero. Then the Tropic of Cancer at 23 degrees 26 minutes north, and the Tropic of Capricorn at 23 26S. Finally, the Arctic Circle and Antarctic Circle at 66 degrees 34 minutes north and south respectively.
