Why was George Washington a great success as president?

Because he really didn't do much in office. His time in office was mostly spent trying to keep peace with Europe and the bitterly divided people in the US who either supported the federal government (federalists) or who believed that the federal government was too powerful (anti-federalists). Because of this he managed to avoid offending most people and allowed a sense of unity to the nation which was divided not only in colonial/state lines but also in their political beliefs.

Warfares before his time were all Frontline battles,in line,groups and formations.But Washington knew his army,untrained won't stoop to the British's troops.So he devised a tatic called Hit-n-run.He would suprise attack british troops at camps and capture the Commanders and run away.
