No mortal man has the power or the authority to anoint Christ. John the baptist baptised with water only yet he himself inquired of Christ that surely he should be baptized by Christ. However as soon as Christ himself as a man was baptised with water the father in heaven sent the holy spirit via a dove which descended upon him and anointed him with the holy spirit. He was then tested for forty days by the devil and overcame and was strengthened by the comforter/ Holy spirit. Christ was a man up until he received the anointing of the holy spirit. After this point he did all things through his fathers name in heaven. It is from this point on that he performed miracles and preached the good news. He never claimed he did anything of himself.
Anointed means being full of the Holy Ghost (Spirit); as it was said of Jesus in Luke 4.1, and the reason he was anointed with the Holy Ghost, was already written in Isaiah 51.1 & 2, which Scripture he quoted to the people in the Nazareth synagogue, (Luke 4.18,19) - that he may:
1) Preach the gospel to the poor.
2) heal the brokenhearted
3) Preach deliverance to the captives.
4) Recovering of sight to the blind.
5) To set at liberty them that are bruised.
6) To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
