Why was Thomas Andrews doing when the Titanic sunk?

Titanic means "huge" and back then, the Titanic was the largest-steamboat in the world. Thomas Andrews (designer and creator of Titanic) had already planned to make it the largest. What he in plan, was to create another ship called The Gigantic, be obviously never got the chance because he died when the Titanic sunk.
Thomas Andrew was the designer of the Titanic. The reason why Titanic was thought of as unsinkable was because there were 16 watertight compartments. So even if a disaster occured with the Titanic it would have stayed afloat for some time - a couple more hours (in this time passengers could have been rescued by other ships).
