Thomas Andrew was the designer of the Titanic. The reason why Titanic was thought of as unsinkable was because there were 16 watertight compartments. So even if a disaster occured with the Titanic it would have stayed afloat for some time - a couple more hours (in this time passengers could have been rescued by other ships). BUT Thomas Andrews reduced the height of the compartments to make more space in the first-class rooms so when it hit the iceberg it sunk a lot faster than it would have done.

Overall, if he wasn't so fussed about the first class passengers' accommodations the Titanic possibly WOULDN'T have sunk and even if it DID many more people would have survived.

In the smoking room staring at a painting on the mantle. Some historians say that was where he was last seen. A first class steward asked "Aren't you going to make a try for it?" Thomas Andrews stared blankly at the painting.

Thomas Andrews was not to blame for the sinking of the Titanic. He suggested early on in the ship's building that there should be 46 lifeboats. But his suggestion was rebuffed and Titanic was fitted with only 20 lifeboats. He also suggested Titanic to have a double hull and the watertight compartments go to B deck, but was overruled with no double hull, and compartments only going to below E deck. Survivors and newspaper accounts deemed Andrews a hero.

Thomas Andrews did not survive the Titanic. In fact, he never intended to, as it would mean taking the life of someone else, who would not be able to escape.

Thomas Andrews was never blamed. The circumstances of the sinking, altho a million-to-one, were unavoidable.

Thomas Andrews was not to blame for the Titanic disaster.

The British inquiry did assign some culpability to the late Captain Smith, probably only to scapegoat the dead guy.
