It is believed that he wrote several different Psalms during this time period, commemorating different events involving Saul's pursuit:
Psalm 18
Psalm 57
Psalm 59
Psalm 63
Psalm 70
Psalm 142
David wrote Psalm 59 when he was fleeing from Saul. This psalm talks about seeking protection from enemies and trusting in God for deliverance.
Simply because Saul was trying to kill David.
A:1 Samuel 16:13 tells of Saul meeting David, son of Jesse, and of Saul anointing David with oil. 1 Samuel 16:21 says that, Saul having sent again for David, David came to him and became his armour bearer. 1 Samuel 17:31-32 says that David came to Saul, proposing to slay Goliath, and Saul gave David his own armour. 1 Samuel 17:58 then says that after killing Goliath, David came again to Saul, but Saul did not even recognise him. The author of this particular narrative seems unaware that elsewhere in the book, David had already been the king's armour bearer and then his personal musician.
Saul chased David for several years, around 8-10 years. Their conflict began when David defeated Goliath and continued until Saul's death in battle against the Philistines.
David took a piece of Saul's robe while he was sleeping as evidence that he could have killed Saul but chose not to harm him.
11 1 Sam. 18:11 - Saul attempts with a spear. 1 Sam. 18:17,21 - Saul plots such that his enemies are to do away with David using his older daughter and then younger as David goes to battle w/ the Philistines. Being heir to the throne would make David a prime target. 1 Sam. 19:1 - servants ordered by Saul to kill David. 1 Sam. 19:10 - Saul attempts with spear 1 Sam. 19:11 - Saul sends messengers to kill David. 1 Sam. 19:15 - Saul sends messengers to bring David back so he can kill David. 1 Sam. 19:20 - Saul sends messengers to kill David. 1 Sam. 19:21 - Saul sends messengers again. (third time) 1 Sam. 19:22 - Saul goes himself in an attempt. 1 Sam. 23:15 - Saul sought David in the wilderness of Ziph and Horesh. 1 Sam. 26:2 - Saul seeks David again in Ziph.
Jonathan helped David by warning him of King Saul's intentions to kill him, providing him with resources and support to escape, and advocating on his behalf to try to reconcile David with King Saul. Jonathan also affirmed his friendship and loyalty to David, despite the circumstances.
Psalm 54 is based on David as he is in hiding, from King Saul and the gaueds have told Saul that David is in their midst, and David prays to god to save him.
The big difference between king Saul and David was that David when he sinned repented again and again, while Saul failed to repent. David even repented after he committed adultery. He wrote a Psalm on it.
My best guess would be King David, as he wrote most of Psalms while he was in hiding from Saul.
The difference between King Saul and King David is that even though both failed and sinned David repented after he omitted adultery, and even wrote a Psalm on it, But Saul refused to listen to both God and Samuel as well. In the end Saul I have run a bad race.

"The bands of the wicked have robbed me: but I have not forgotten thy law". Bands could also be translated Chains with which Satan binds all who do wickedly. Bands or chains bind us and do not allow us to do that which we should do. The bands David or whoever wrote this psalm robbed him of the blessings of God.
Saul David was born in 1966.
David married Saul's daughter Michal.
According to tradition, David composed Psalm 23 (one of the most famous and beautiful Psalms) as a prayer, when he was being pursued by Saul and was without food or water, near death, in the forest of Haret. His trust in God was so strong that he felt as if he was at peace, in a meadow with a quiet brook to drink from, and with God holding his hand.See also:More about King David
Saul og David was created in 1902.
The only Book attributed to David is the Psalms. The Book of Psalms is not in chronological order. We may surmise that a Psalm such as number 18 was the last, or among the last, since it has the words "of David the servant of the Lord, who spoke unto the Lord the words of this songin the day that the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul."Another clear contender is Psalm 72, which has the words "The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended."Although Psalm 72 is "of Solomon," tradition states that David wrote it, concerning Solomon (Rashi commentary).
