Shakespeare's play A Midsummer Night's Dream is about a pair of lovers who elope through the woods at night, closely followed by two other young people. At the same time there is a group of amateur actors who go there to rehearse a play. They run into some fairies who use a love potion to get people to fall in love with other people, including the most opinionated and vain of the actors who is also changed into a half-human-half-donkey. However, by morning everyone is straightened out and is in love with the right person, and the young people get married and watch the play the amateur actors have been rehearsing (which is so bad it's hilarious).
