They were making money. Pure and simple and these guys really got upset when the Tea Act came along to LOWER taxes on British tea ( no they didn't make the tax higher). The smugglers saw that they would loose money to the British tea because it would be cheaper than the Dutch tea. Hamilton was involved in this as well.

the colonies would not be okay with the tea act in any case because they did not want taxation without representation
They smuggled them in from other countries
No. Native Americans were NOT involved in the Boston Tea Party. This is another misunderstood event in American history and the actual story is misleading. Consider the business about taxes. It is said that the colonist feared the effect of British taxes on the economy, but in reality the Tea Act reduced the duty on tea imported to the colonies. It was this reduction that caused the problem. Historians report that the cut in duty made British tea suddenly competitive with tea smuggled into the colonies from Holland by American merchants like John Hancock. It was this, the prospect of cheap British tea, not higher taxes that is the reason from the Boston Tea Party. Three- fourths of the tea coming into America was smuggled in, by American smugglers. The smugglers thought it unfair that their economic fortunes should be determined by a government thousands of miles away whose chief interest was protecting some body's else's business. Another interesting fact is that not all patriots were behind the Tea Party. Washington worried it would lead to British retaliation and Franklin suggested the colonist ought to pay back the East India company for the tea.
The smugglers brought Dutch tea into the colonies. Since the 1730's there had been colonial smugglers providing goods that were not allowed into the colonies. Two of the biggest smugglers were Hancock and Hamilton . In fact, it was Hancock who funded the Son's of Liberty. Without him Samuel Adams would have had no group. The sole purpose of the group was to protect the interests of the smugglers. The Boston Tea Party was in protest of the British LOWERING the tea tax. This affected the smuggled cost of the Dutch tea and they threw the tea into the harbor to protect their economic interests. As far as taxes go the people in the colonies paid less tax than they did in Britain.

The quiet period in America followed the Boston Tea Party incident and the Stamp Tax. During this time Americans smuggled their tea in from Holland.

who could not make a profit on there smuggled tea
The Tea Act LOWERED the cost of the British tea tax and the British did it to make the tea more competitive against the tea that was being smuggled in from Holland by American smugglers. The smugglers were upset to see that they would loose business and it had nothing to do with taxes.
No. Tea was loose and in chests. By-the-way the British didn't raise the tax of tea but LOWERED it. This upset the men who smuggled Dutch tea into the colonies because the cost of their tea would go up and costing them business.

They really didn’t have problems. The British passed trade laws but the colonies went around those and smuggled in things. One of the problems was when the British lowered the tea tax that made the smuggled Dutch tea higher in cost. The Boston Tea Party was the final result.
The taxes were levied because the crown reasoned that the colonies should help pay for the French and Indian War since the British army protected them. The tea tax was LOWERED and not raised which made the smuggled Dutch tea higher than the British tea.
yup
This was a group started by Samuel Adams who was a smuggler in the colonies and didn't like the British lowering the tea tax which made the price of tea less than the smuggled Dutch tea he sold. The Sons of Liberty collected guns and powder to use for future conflicts.
