So they can live in the after life. they didn't believe the brain was used for thinking, instead people in ancient Egypt thought that the heart was used for thinking...that way they could still be able to do things in the after life.

∙ 9y agoThe heart actually was taken out. But then after it had been mummified it would be put back into place. The ancient Egyptians thought that the soul lived in the heart, so without it in place the soul was incomplete and therefore would not be able to move on to the afterlife.
