We don't know what he did. There is no record of where he did his writing. He could have written in his room, in the backstage of the theatre, on a boat on the river, while travelling between London and Stratford, or in the pub, or anywhere else you care to imagine. If he did write in pubs, he would have the advantage of a nice smooth table to write on, and food and drink supplied on command if he wanted. Whether the noise of the other patrons would prove to be an inspiration or a distraction is hard to say.

A number of London pubs, still around from the time of Shakespeare, claim he frequently visited their establishments. While thereâ??s no proof he actually wrote there, itâ??s not that hard to imagine writers finding the colorful characters that frequented such establishments, then and now, as fabulous inspirations for characters in their plays and sonnets.
