camels have been used for transporting goods across deserts for thousands of years. In fact, camels are the only desert animals that can carry heavy loads of goods and travel for a long period of time without food or water.
Camels are extremely adept at traveling in hot, sandy climates. Their hump is made of fat, which the camel can use to feed itself if it doesn't have any food, and they do not need much food or water compared to horses. They can go days without a drink. They also have split feet instead of hooves, so they have an easier time on sand than horses. They also have a second eyelid and nostrils that will close shut to keep sand out. Most importantly, however, camels are strong and can haul heavy weights long distances. You can even ride them, although I have it on good authority that they are very uncomfortable and smelly!
because the camel can travel long distances, they don't need a lot of water and they can carry heavy loads
because the camels can carry large loads, can brave through sandstorms, and they dont need much water. :-p~
