A relocation centre was an internment camp for 'enemy aliens'. In particular, there was a fear that Japanese Americans might be disloyal in the event of an invasion and those living in states on or near the West Coast were 'relocated' to camps, mainly in the Mid West. In the case of Japanese Americans 'relocation' often included Americans of Japanese origin despite the fact that they were U.S. citizens. It is widely felt they treated badly. Some German and Italian were also relocated and in interned. In the autumn of 1939 all aliens with German citizenship (and this included refugees from Germany and Austria) had to appear before special tribunals. They were only interned if the tribunal decided that they were a danger or if their status was unclear. In June 1940 a number of civilians had been evacuated from France in the final stages of the Dunkirk evacuation. At the time it was rumoured that in the invasion of the Netherlands, Germans disguised as monks and nuns had played a key role. Sections of the popular press in Britain started a campaign to 'lock up all foreigners'. The popular press made no mention of the fact that most of them had already appeared before tribunals. The government gave in to the hysteria, and had all males (aged 16-60) with enemy citizenship interned. (Women were only interned if under actual suspicion). New tribunals were set up and the majority of the prisoners were released within a short space of time. One of the more objectionable aspects of internment was it extended to 'enemy aliens' who had been resident in the country for a long time but hadn't bothered to acquire citizenship. (Until 1949, the procedure was complicated and somewhat expensive). Some poorer Jews, mainly with Austrian citizenship, found themselves interned for the second time, having previously been interned in WW1. British citizens of German, Austrian, Italian (and other Axis) origin were NOT interned. If they were suspected of spying they had to be tried in the normal way.
The famous saying is "The enemy of my enemy is my friend."
Japanese US Soldiers were first unable to join the military but Roosevelt reversed the policy in 1943 making many Japanese Americans extremely excited also creating Japanese Regiments The last answer was not what changed about the policy but what the policy originally was even though this may not be useful now to you it may be to other people have a nice day :D
don't you get it? Lets say you have an enemy, and your friend has to hate that person too, so the enemy of your enemy is your friend!
Try "Issei" which means first generation Japanese, who were of course interned during WW2.
1. In Britain most adult male enemy aliens were interned (in internment camps), in many cases for a few months only. British Fascists were also interned or held in prisons. 2. The US had similar policies, but in the case of the Japanese even people born in America by Japanese parents and naturalized Japanese were interned as well as actual Japanese citizens.
Enemy aliens are people who came from other countried to Australia during the wars and they were classed as enemy aliens because they brought a threat to Australia during the wars
penises
they were interned because during ww2, Canada was at war with Japan and many canadians on the homefront felt that there were enemy aliens in British Columbia and thus wanted all Japanese people to be separated from the other sreggin.
The were concentrated under guard in camps.
no, not at all.. in my opinion, it is not justified in interning enemy aliens as this is not their fault that they have come from enemy countries i.e japan German and Italy......they have paid taxes for Australia....they are separated from their families for this and now they are not Japanese, Germans or Italians....THEY ARE AUSTRALIANS.. so, therefore the answer is no....
Internment camps in World War 2 were for enemy aliens.
Yes. There was enemy "aliens" in WW2. Well, no on really saw aliens. They saw "Foo Fighters", Stange balls of light that often followed both American and German fighters.
The staff wants to keep this internal memo quiet, for the time being. My tummy's grumble was an internal announcement.
He interned at the top hospital in New York.
