Because the pyramids were easy targets for grave robbers. The Egyptians started hiding their tombs in the Valley of the Kings so that no one could steal their mummies and their treasures buried with them. Their pyramids had traps and false passageways to fool grave robbers, but the grave robbers could still overcome such things.
If you are referring to the three famous "Pyramids of Giza", then the short answer is, they were not buried in those pyramids. While there is indeed a burial compartment in "The Pyramid of Khufu", there is no mummy, artifacts or anything else to indicate he was actually entombed there. No other burial chambers or evidence of burials has been found in the main 3 Giza Pyramids. The thousands of other pyramids located throughout the Mesopotamian area however, have indeed been used as burial chambers for not only pharaohs but other important or powerful people such as priests, political figures, family members and others. They believed the pyramid structure was divinely favored and influenced.

The answer is that at some point those responsible for tomb security noticed that man made structures such as pyramids could not be made secure from robbers. What they did notice is that anything buried in a region of rock and soil hills and valleys would as time progressed be further buried within the landscape as the hills eroded and dumped soil washed down from the hills over the tomb sites.
The pharaohs believed that this valley was the ideal burial ground since the primary peak had a pyramidal shape and the valley had only one entrance, which could easily be guarded.

Egyptian tombs were move to foil the effort of grave robbers who raided them for the treasures with the dead.
Ancient Egyptians used the Nile River to move nearly everything, from imports and exports to Pharaohs and sarcophagi. Most Pharaohs were buried in the Valley of the Kings, not in pyramids. This change in burial practices was due to grave robbers. Pyramids were somewhat like a billboard sign to thieves saying, "Here's the gold and jewels and all of my most favorite of life's possessions! Come and get them!"
