Because this is probably because of men being the first pharaoh, this might be the reason to why women were not preferred, and due to women giving less chance to show their abilities as a pharaoh (due to people just making men pharaohs), men were preferred every time, every now and then a girl may be born from the pharaohs wife, so the pharaoh would go with their other brothers or siblings, then soon get a boy, and then the boy would be taught and would soon be the next ruler, hatshepsut and the other queens were only took as pharaohs for having special situations, like for hatshepsut, after marrying her brother thutmose II she had a child by the name of thutmose III after thutmose II died, thutmose III was supposed to rule, but he was of course... too young, so hatshepsut put the matter to her own hands, and there you go! she became Pharaoh.

Well, no... it depends on the situation! such as hatshepsut, she had taken the role of pharaoh as thutmose II was too young to actually rule! and well... the dad was not there.

She then became the pharoah (still people hating the idea of a women being a pharaoh.) afterwards, ruled and kept on going, and the things she had done to egypt, like the expedition to punt and stuff.
