The doorknob is on one side of the door. It is natural for people to turn out, not in. There's no point making the doorknob turn both ways so manufacturers make it so that it turns only one way to save themselves time.

Why does static electricity happen?

Static electricity is an electric charge, it is created by friction, and causes sparks, and attracts dust or hair example: ....walk across a carpet, electrons move from the rug to you. Now you have extra electrons. Touch a door knob and ZAP! The electrons move from you to the knob. You get a shock. because sometimes, as you rub two materials together the tiny, negatively charged electrons move from one material to another.

Why do you get an electic shock if you touch a doorknob after walking across a carpet?

You get an electric shock if you touch a doorknob after walking on carpet because of built up of extra electrons transferred from the carpet to your feet and then body. The electrons stay built up on you until you touch something that they can discharge on, in this case a doorknob.

Why do people use metal door frames instead of wooden door frames now days?

Besides being obviously more sturdy, metal isn't prone to rotting from termites and/or mold buildup. Metal is prone to rust but they will still probably last longer.

Does the color of the hair affect how much static electricity it can carry?

A charged object will attract an object that is neutral. Think about how you can make a balloon stick to a wool sweater. If you charge a balloon by rubbing it on your hair, it picks up extra electrons and has a negative charge. Holding it near a neutral object will make the charges in that object move. If it is a conductor, many electrons move easily to the other side, as far from the balloon as possible. If it is an insulator, the electrons in the atoms and molecules can only move very slightly to one side, away from the balloon. In either case, there are more positive charges closer to the negative balloon. Opposites attract. The balloon sticks. (At least until the electrons on the balloon slowly leak off.) It works the same way for neutral and positively charged objects. So what does all this have to do with static shocks? Or static electricity in hair? When you take off your wool hat, it rubs against your hair. Electrons move from your hair to the hat. A static charge builds up and now each of the hairs has the same positive charge. Remember, things with the same charge repel each other. So the hairs try to get as far from each other as possible. The farthest they can get is by standing up and away from the others. And that is how static electricity causes a bad hair day! (Get tips on how to eliminate static electricity problems in your home or office.) As you walk across a carpet, electrons move from the rug to you. Now you have extra electrons and a negative static charge. Touch a door knob and ZAP! The door knob is a conductor. The electrons jump from you to the knob, and you feel the static shock. We usually only notice static electricity in the winter when the air is very dry. During the summer, the air is more humid. The water in the air helps electrons move off you more quickly, so you can not build up as big a static charge.

how can i get my body to feel hot and ready to sleep with my partner?

turn on the shower, only the hot knob, jump in, now, don't turn on the cold knob, as then it wouldn't be a hot shower, then get out, just towel off a little, then jump in the bed with your partner, and walah, you are hot for your partner!!!!

Can you get lead poisoning from touching the door knob?

It would be unusual to get lead poisoning from touching a door knob. In theory, if the door knob had been painted with a paint that contains lead, and if the paint was now flaking off and gets onto your hand, and if you fail to wash your hands before eating, and you get flakes of lead based paint into your food and eat it, then yes, you could get lead poisoning.

How can a 1998 Pontiac Transport rear hatch be opened if you cannot use the key?

If the little thing that you turn broke off and the key bends if you try to turn to open the back, the only answer I have found is a flathead screw driver. My turn knob thing broke off and unfortantly the key broke trying to open it so I now use a screw driver put in the key hole turn and open. Sorry if that's not the answer you want to hear. if you can't open from outside, remove the inside panel, you can then pull the rods that open the door locks .The door will then open

1998 Pontiac Bonneville and the interior lights stay on for a long time or don't go off at all even when the car is off what could theproblem be?

I had this problem in my 97. Turned out to be a door senser in the drivers door. Solution was to cut the wire. The only effect it had was the interior lights don't come on now when you touch the door knob however they still come on when you open the doors

Punched a door and now my two knuckles are swollen It doesn't hurt it's just uncomfortable to move about Should I see a doctor?

Probably. But why punch a door? Maybe you should try turning the door knob next time. Learn from your experience, and don't do it again in the future.

How do you change the door speakers in a 1995 Ford Explorer?

Remove the screws under the door handle on the door panel, and take off the trim plate. Then remove the door lock knob by untwisting it. Pull the door panel with a putty knife or door panel puller, removing any screws and disconnecting the wiring. Take speaker out by removing screws that should now be visible.

Previous answer: "Press any one of the six memory buttons and the volume control knob at the same time....Rotate tuning knob for hour.....depress volume to get minutes....use tune knob to set. Rotate tuning knob to set hour 5) press volume control knob again; minutes will appear. Set with tuning knob 6) turn radio off. Time will now remain in memory.

318 starts then dies?

Turn your ignition key backwards to put your auxiliary power on. Make sure all your windows are up, and then get out and hit the LOCK DOOR button a few times to lock all your doors. Now shut your driver-side door and go to your passenger door. Use your key to open the door, BUT when you turn to unlock it, turn it a few times. Now get in and try to start it. Let me know if that works 807-597-6178 Brian

How to turn radio of with the engine on a 05 corsa?

If you want the radio to go on when you start the engine, and go off when you take the key out of the ignition after turning the engine off, read on. Turn the radio on. There should be a "settings" button. (top left of the volume knob I think) Press it repeatedly until you find a setting "ignition logic". Press the Volume knob (it acts as an "enter" at this point, IIRC). The display show now show the choice "yes" or "no". Using the volume knob, rotate it to select "Yes". Press the volume knob, and you should be sorted.
