Because you are essentially doing the same thing the truck is suppose to do normally. You have a fuel pump which is located in your fuel tank (where you put gas in at the gas station) that delivers fuel to your throttle body. When you put gas in the throttle body then you are bypassing the fuel pump momentarily. Be careful though because this has been know to burn piston rings and blow engines.
I would check the fuel filter, fuel pump,or have your injectors cleaned, but pumping the gas is not helping on a throttle body all you are doing is giving it more gas which means you are going to flood it. You don't pump throttle body, you do the carburetor
is it carburated or throttle body injected? try putting a little gas in the carburetor or throttle body or if you have no gas try starting fluid but if you have gas in a jug use that because starting fluid is hard on the pistons and valves. and see if itll start
Its obviously not getting fuel to the throttle body, this is most likely the fuel pump, but you should start by replaceing the fuel filter becase of the low cost.
Gas pouring out of the throttle body would probably be caused by a leaking injector seal.
I would try shooting some gas into the throttle body.
if throttle body is flooding engine how can i fix .4.3engine on 88 Chevy blazer motor was running great on morning wont start. new gas tank plugs wires ,sending unit.and throttle body.motor turns over wants to start ,there is fire to plugs and fuel to throttle body, also new rotor button
pinched gas line or dirty filter
Shorted or grounded coolant senser, Fuel preesure Regulator bad.
Basically just add gas to the tank, turn the key on but do not start it to let the electric fuel pump push fuel to the carb or injectors. After a few minutes then you could spray some throttle body cleaner into the throttle body to get the engine to start right away. Then go turn the key and it should fire. You can try it without the throttle body cleaner and the engine may start onec enough fuel gets to the cylinders.
No.
you should try priming it by spraying starter fluid or gas or anything flammable enough to start the car into the throttle body then start it The use of starting fluid is not recommended by most engine manufacturers The priming method will vary from year to year, make to make.
Gas is not fed through the throttle body on a 1999. The fuel injectors are where the fuel is dispensed.
