Why won't gas gauge on 2005 ford explorer reset after filling it up?

try diconnecting one of your battery cables and wait about 30 seconds and then reconnect it; this will reset the computer in the car and perhaps this will work. I had what I thought was a cluster panel problem, which cost about $500.00 a friend at work suggested the battery disconnect; it worked.
