Usually it isn't legal to watch movies for free. Some sites put up movies after they payed for rights to show them and you can watch them for free as an incentive to sign up for the website. Movies have copyrights on them approving only certain viewing locations in order to make money off of the movie. If they were always free, how would the people who make movies have money to pay for sets, props, actors (and actresses), etc. :)

when the movie is on a DVD its legal but when a movie just got in a movie theatre or is turning into a DVD its allegal to watch on the net. you can pay for the movie on the net and then it wont be allegal.

They can easily track your downloads but it's a pain in the butt for them to track the movies you just watch on websites so they don't even bother.
