There are many possible reasons. You would need to provide some more detail
on the vehicle (Year) and is the remote start "Factory" installed?
Do the exterior lights on the vehicle flash when the remote start is activated?
Is the "Check/Service engine" light on?
The more info the better.....
One reason that a keyless entry remote will not open the doors is a dead battery, either on the vehicle or the key itself. Another reason is that the remote needs to be reprogrammed.
Hello "NO" You can buy a remote start kit for your car, but wont work the doors.. Good Luck
No - the starting system is totally separated from the remote entry.
The battery in the remote needs to be replaced.
2000 catera sometimes wont start & you have to work the remote to get it to start ? Mybe it has something too do wiht the security system?????
if it's manual some wont start or should say majority of it wont start, if it was made by factory they might disable it on a manual for safety issues, if it's an auto the wire might came off from the remote module or the battery on the remote is dead. You could also use remote start on manual to if you like, but dealership wont install it for you i highly doubt it. Take it to a shop that install remote starter or alarms, they might be able to make it work for you but it'll be at your own risk for doing it.
Put a new battery in it. You may have to take it to your dealer to get it reprogrammed.
Check he battery in the hand held unit.
remote starter will work then next time will not work
just buy a remote start for it -- trust me -- it will save you grief in the long run. Your key is likely not being read because of the amount of use in the ignition, the remote start simulates the resistor in your key to the security system so it can remote start the car. I just use the remote start when the key wont work.
