old gasket most likely. sometimes they'll seal until they're opened, and then once you've broken the surface tension, boom, you've got a leak. a lot of times the rubber will adhere to the glass, metal, etc. when its hot but, if you try to get it to reseal when its cold/cool it wont. they lose some flexibility over time.
The sunroof motor on a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am GT is typically located in the headliner area, near the rear of the sunroof assembly. To access it, you usually need to remove the interior trim panel around the sunroof and possibly the headliner itself. Once exposed, the motor will be mounted to the sunroof mechanism, allowing it to control the opening and closing of the sunroof.

In a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am, the fuse for the sunroof is located in the fuse box, which is typically found under the dashboard on the driver's side. The specific fuse for the sunroof is usually labeled in the fuse diagram, which can be found on the cover of the fuse box or in the owner's manual. If the sunroof is not functioning, checking this fuse for any signs of a blown connection is a good first step.
