Lilacs are an acid loving plant. The leaves will turn yellow and the plant often can and does die if the soil is too alkaline. You don't have to have the soil tested. A quick and easy solution is to get some Azalea/ Rhododendron plant food by Miracle-Gro. Mix it in water and put it on your plant with a watering can. This should fix it. I have found this to work very well for most everyone that I have given this hint to. Also, this plant food is excellent for evergreen trees too such as pine, blue spruce, fir, etc. Nice for those trees in ones yard. I am an R.N. but love to garden.

Cherry tree bears fruit every other year. Leaves are all drooping, turning yellow and falling off...I have no idea what to do with it! About 15yrs old, not a weeping cherry~
