Yes, Valium does cause constipation. I am a 58 yr old female who does not usually suffer from constipation. I was stressed last Saturday (5 days ago) and a friend gave me a 10 mg Valium tablet which I took that night to help me sleep. I've had severe constipation since then and am hoping this will pass soon. I eat a high fiber diet, and last night I took a laxative, and still nothing.
