Yes it will. All 4l60e's are the same but different from the plain 4l60 because the e stands for electronic controlled. There is a difference in the mounting of the cross member. It has to be moved up one bolt hole toward the front. And the transmission lines have to be rebent to a different angle. I just did the install and it runs and shifts fine. It is an easy install after you figure out how to get the old one out. Make sure the vehicle is high enough also to slide the '98 trans out. The bell housing goes all the way around, so you can't tilt it like you can the '96.
Have fun!
NO it will not. You MUST put a 1996 4L60E trans. back in the tahoe. No other year will interchange. The belhousing are different.
NO it will not. The 96 and 97 year transmissions are DIFFERENT then 1992--1995 and then from 1998 to 1999. If it is a 1996 are 1997 year then The ONLY ones that will interchange is a 96 and 97 no other ones will fit those 2 years.
Those are the ONLY 2 years that will interchange as long as they both came out from behind a V-8 or V-6
No 1995 was a transition year from the 1993-1994 OBD-1 to the 1996 and up OBD2. A 4L60E out of a 1995 has to be in another 1995.
No. 1995 was a transition year from the 93-94 OBD1 to the 96 and up OBD-2.
NOTHING WILL. It must have the 4L60E Put back in it.
Yes, They will interchange.
No it will not. The only transmission that will WORK in the 96 IS A 1996 MODEL. NO other years will interchange.
First place, 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive transmissions will NOT interchange they are different. There is only 2 years that will work in the 96 and that is a 96 and 97 4L60E 4-wheel drive transmission.
The E in 4L60E stands for ELECTRONIC and the 700R4 is NOT ELECTRONIC controlled. But the 4L60E is. Therefor they will NOT interchange.
NO, The 1996 must have the 96 model 4L60E PUT BACK IN IT.
