It depends on how much weight tests have on your grade. Essentially, an A on anything will bring up a grade. However, it may not be significant enough to even matter.
The answer depends on how many marks an f is worth and also on how much of the total grade depends on the class and the test.

If you have a 2.76 GPA (grade point average), you probably have mostly Cs and low Bs in your classes. It's a good idea to try to bring it up to at least 3.0, which could be achieved with mostly Bs.
You do the best that you can and work your butt off in that class in order to get your grade up. If you flunked that test, there must have been a reason. Figure out what the reason is, and attempt to fix that issue and move on from them. Now, I don't blame you for being freaked out about a D..I've been an all A's student all my life! Talk to your teacher about retaking the test to help bring up your grade. If he or she says no, then be sure to make your best effort on the work in the future to ensure a good grade to boost up that D. It will take a LOT of work unfortunately, but in the end it will be worth it if you worked hard! Also, you could ask for extra credit assignments.
