Will amoxicillin test as positive for cocaine in urine drug test?

Amoxicillin has been reported in the literature to cause a false-positive test for cocaine metabolites by immunoassay methods. Any reputable drug testing program would require an immunoassay presumptive positive result to be confirmed by GC/MS. The GC/MS analysis will eliminate any immunoassay false-positive results due to amoxicillin. Bottom line; no, amoxicillin will not cause a confirmed false-positive for cocaine.

∙ 15y agoThis is only a partial list....Afrin nasal spray, Contact cold capsules, Sudafed, any and all asthma meds, and Amoxicillin. Ridiculous, isn't it? cocaine contains speed sometimes and alsowhatever the dealer laces it with. ( nail polish remover or whatever they want)

Yes. It will show up on two drug tests: the 200-drug assay doctors use when they know you've overdosed on something but don't know what it is, and a compliance test doctors give sometimes to make sure you're taking the drug.
But since amoxicillin is a legal antibiotic and you can't get any pleasure from abusing it, they don't test for it in employment, probation or other tests like that.

Some people say it can cause a false positive for cocain, but I was just on amoxo-clav ( the strongest form of amoxicillin there is) and took a drug test and did not fail it for cocaine so I would say no. However there have been reports of it casuing a false positive for cocaine so it depends on the type of drug test given. If it is at a lab or sent to a lab than no, if it is a simple dipstick test than yes it may.
