Cheddar and marblejack are much thicker and have usually aged for much longer. If you feel Swiss cheese, it is much softer, and like fruits, softer cheeses usually mold faster.

About the same.
Mold grows a lot quicker on Swiss than on Cheddar.
Yes. It's supposed to be less sodium than cheddar. That's why cheddar tastes better to most people than Swiss does...
Swiss cheese is non-processed. Cheddar cheese is.
in my opinion 1. Mozzarella 2. American 3.Swiss 4.Cheddar 5. bleu cheese
Both are popular cheeses and they are very similar in fat and salt content. Most people use Swiss cheese when they want a mild flavored cheese and cheddar when they want a stronger flavor. They are equally good.

I worked on a cheese counter when I was a student and from my observations the only reason Swiss cheese grows mold faster than cheddar is because of how it's wrapped. In the factory that produces cheese the packaging is generally done under nitrogen. This means that any gas pockets that occur in the vacuum pack contain nitrogen rather than air. Cheddar, Brie, Swiss and then probably Cream Cheese. This answer depends on what country, In USA Id say Cheddar, Mozzarella, Jack, Provolone,
# Feta # Parmesean # Romano # Mozerella # American/Pasteurized-processed (or Velveeta) # Mild/Sharp/White Cheddar # Pepper Jack # Colby Jack # Bleu Cheese # Swiss Cheese # Cream Cheese # Monterey # Asiago # gorgonzola # Provolone # Gouda # Goat Cheese
Which cheese will grow mold faster - cheddar - pepper jack - Swiss - blue - colbyjack or - provolone?
I've found that provalone molded faster than any of them --- Trick question: you may not be aware of it but bleu cheese is pre-molded. When bleu cheese is being made, it is injected with mold spores. This is what causes the blue veining or spotting that is seen in the cheese and gives it the generic name of bleu cheese.
American, Swiss, Provolone, Cheddar, Mozzarella, Parmesan.
Ripened cheese will last longer b/c it has usually already molded like Swiss, Cheddar, etc.

chedder, Swiss ,American, and guta cheese
well, i would always just use some goats cheese or mature cheddar, no jokes, goats cheese is meant to have the same consistency as Swiss and will cook for the same time and in exactly the same way, the only different thing about it is that there is a very small distinction in taste, but who's going to know right?
