Doxycycline can be used to treat dental infections especially if it involves bone structure. Metronidazole , and Co-amoxiclav are the first line treatments though. Doxycycline can be added for the eradication of all bacteria hidden in various crevices in the teeth and gums.

Doxycycline is commonly used for a gingiva or gum infection. A low dose, usually 100 mg is used for a gingivitis situation. But if the infection is an abscessed tooth, Doxycyline is not usually the drug of choice. Usually a broad spectrum and stronger antibiotic is used for those situations.

yes. I went to this dental website and found out that doxycycline is Tetracycline and a lot of dentist prescribe this medication for either pretreatment operations as well as post-treatment procedures.
