Painkillers are blood thinners, so no. It will actually make you bleed more.
Whoever wrote that is dumb. I've been doing some research. A nurse told me that it should help stop the bleeding, but she was not sure why. Asprin is a blood thinner, but not all painkillers are. That's a very ignorant statement.
