Presently there is no movie being made based on TheSilmarillion. (Although a number of fans, including myself, continue to work on making a workable script.) Also the Tolkien Estate has show considerable reluctance in giving out the movie rights after The Lord of the Rings films were made.

∙ 7y agoThere will be no Silmarillion movie. There will be The Hobbit, which will be made into a trilogy. There will be added information in the film from notes and from The Silmarillion as Peter Jackson wanted to add as much detail about Middle-earth in the trilogy as they will be the last live action films based on Tolkien's fantastical world.

No, it seems not, unfortunately. Rumours were spread to the contrary on the Internet circa 2009. The obvious problems in adapting the book for screenplay are the lack of a real central plot and the absence of contigious central characters. The filming rights are at present (I believe) still held by Christopher Tolkien.
