Yes When switching your pet over to a low residue diet the consistency of their fecal matter can change and soften. This may well change after a few weeks closer to normal.

Speak to the Vet who recommended this change in diet if it does not.

When you feed a pomeranian soft food and they have a lot of loose stools and they won't eat their hard food what do we do?

Take the dog to a veterinarian. Soft food isn't a good choice for Pomeranians because they are prone to dental problems- try to switch to hard food as soon as possible.

Is cold canned cat food mixed with dry food she seem s to have soft stools and she gets her on her tail and on the floor is she sick?

There can be several reasons. First of all: If your cat's stools are so soft that they get on her tail and on the floor, she may be sick and you should take her to the vet as soon as possible, just to make sure there is nothing wrong. Diarrhea can dehydrate a small animal very quickly, and make her even worse. Second: Make sure that the food (especially the cold, canned food) is not past its expiration date. Open cans of food usually stay fresh for two days if stored in the refrigerator. You could try dishing the food out as normal, covering it and leaving it for half an hour or so to warm up. Third: A sudden change in the the kind of food a cat eats can cause stomach upset (change in brand, change in dry/canned, etc). New foods should be introduced gradually, mixing them in with the food she is used to until her system gets used to the new food.

Are vanity stools safe to use around the house with kids?

Vanity stools could be dangerous to children - they might hit their heads on them, or fall over while sitting on them. There are vanity stools that are advertised as kid friendly, they are harder to knock over and soft around the edges so kids won't get hurt on them.

What should my stool look like?

Normal bowel movements vary for each person. In general, they should be brown in color (anywhere from very light to dark brown), formed, and soft to semi-soft. Characteristics not considered normal include (to name a few): blood in the stool; thick sticky or tarry stool; black stools; white stools; very loose watery stools; very hard stools; and stools that are difficult to pass that cause straining. Keep in mind that everyone's bowels are different. Some people lean more towards soft bowel movements, which is normal for them, and some people have harder to pass stools, which can also be okay. Your diet will also affect the color and consistency of your stools. If you are unsure about your bowel movements, or see blood in your stool, please see your doctor for diagnosis.
