The most commonly reported adverse drug reactions are nausea, vomiting and sweating. Drowsiness is reported, although it is less of an issue than for other opioids. Respiratory depression, a common side effect of most opioids, is not clinically significant in normal doses. By itself, it can decrease the seizure threshold. When combined with SSRIs, tricyclic antidepressants, or in patients with epilepsy, the seizure threshold is further decreased. Seizures have been reported in humans receiving excessive single oral doses (700 mg) or large intravenous doses (300 mg). An Australian study found that of 97 confirmed new-onset seizures, eight were associated with Tramadol, and that in the authors' First Seizure Clinic, "Tramadol is the most frequently suspected cause of provoked seizures" (Labate 2005). Dosages of coumadin/warfarin may need to be reduced for anticoagulated patients to avoid bleeding complications.

Can a stroke happen during an epileptic seizure?

A person can have a stroke at absolutely any time. So someone could have one while having a seizure. That is not to say that a seizure can cause a stroke or a stroke can cause a seizure, or that they are particularly related as generally neither would do anything like that. Both affect the brain, but are two very different kinds of problems caused by different factors.

What is the max dose you can take of tramadol?

I do not believe there is one established fatal dose. As with all meds, fatalities can occur at both low and high doses. Much depends on what other meds one is taking and one's sensitivities to various drugs. Tramadol lowers the seizure threshold, so anyone prone to seizures needs their doctor to carefully manage their use of this drug. In addition, when combined with certain other medications, the seizure threshold can be lowered even further. Anti-depressant SSRIs taken together with Tramadol can be very dangerous for those prone to seizures. Tramadol causes the body to retain serotonin, as do many of the modern anti-depressants. Along with the risk of seizure for certain individuals, Tramadol taken together with other drug that cause the body to retain serotonin can contribute to serotonin syndrome, a highly dangerous condition. The maximum daily dose of Tramadol is listed at 400mg. Tramadol is to be taken every 4-6 hours, at either 50mg or 100mg. The long acting preparations have different dosing schedules. Those prone to seizures or those already taking other meds that either lower the seizure threshold, or cause retention of serotonin will probably have a much lower maximum dose set by their doctor than those without such risks.

Can amoxillin cause a seizure?

Anti-biotics can lower the seizure threshold, as can being sick. So if someone is sick and/or is on anti-biotics they could be more likely to get a seizure. That does not mean that the anti-biotic they are taking is responsible for them getting a seizure. So Amoxillin could not be said to cause seizures.
