If a person were to complete an ASE approved course of study and complete and pass all of the ASE certification exams, and graduate with an A.A.S. degree, and average of about $12-25 would be an accurate range for new technicians.
Gaining ASE certification has several benefits that make it worth the time and effort it requires to pass the test. These are just a few things you can expect when you hold a master’s level ASE certification. 1. Customer Trust When a mechanic can post an ASE certificate on the shop wall, a customer knows immediately that the mechanic has the knowledge required to repair a vehicle properly. This extra level of trust between the customer and the mechanic can lead to more repeat business. Customers have a hard time trusting mechanics because the customer generally does not understand much about automotive repair. They have to rely on the mechanic to tell them the truth and not overcharge them. An ASE certificate relieves some of that tension right away. 2. Job Promotions If you earn an ASE certification, you will qualify for jobs that need more expertise. The certification is the best way to move up through the ranks of mechanics in your shop and begin to have more authority and responsibility. 3. Higher Salary Most shops offer a pay raise for mechanics who complete the ASE certification process. The extra amount of training makes you more valuable to the shop, which means they are willing to pay you more to keep you on staff. Earning an ASE certification is similar to earning a college degree. It proves that you know what you are doing and can be trusted to do it right. 4. Career Stability An ASE certification provides a better chance for a stable career in auto mechanics. Without the certification, you will be considered as an entry-level mechanic, no matter how much experience you have. The certification proves that you are willing to continue to improve your skills and apply them properly. When a shop needs to reduce the staff, it is usually the mechanics who do not have certification who lose their jobs first. 5. Respect ASE certification carries a different level of respect. It is proof of a mechanic’s expertise. The fact that the certificate is awarded by an official, impartial agency means that the mechanic had to qualify on skill and knowledge alone. The certificate is proof of a mechanic’s skills.
HRBlock has classes for tax preparation online. Check out their site, be ready to pay a hefty sum however. It is worth it after you achieve your certification though.
Unemployment was eased quite a bit when Marius opened the army to all citizens of all classes. The training to gain the MRI technician certification costs as much as the classes and equipment you must pay. In schools or programs that are condensed (more classes in less time) the price may be slightly higher, but you will be paying for fewer years of schooling. Also, you may be required to buy equipment or uniforms.
Your employer will require that you have the certification of specific OSHA classes. Refer to this website for FAQs as to what classes are offered and how to register for them. OSHA courses are about safety awareness, not skills. Many employers will pay for the courses, so do check. http://www.osha.gov/dte/oti/course_faqs.html
You have to meet the standard requirement's set by ASE and sign up for the test or tests of your choosing. You will pay for each test you want to take when you send in your request forms. Show up at test location and take those test. They will send your scores and tell you what you pass or fail.
Absolutely. Pay can be directly affected by your certifications, degrees, work related experience, age, qualifications, etc. I am a CEO and founder of a research firm and I definitely take into consideration many factors like the one you are inquiring about in determining compensation.
I'd say 15 to 20% of the shops flat rate.
I guess it depends on where you live, what state and what is required to re-certify. Most community colleges have re-certification and license update programs so check with them. You either pay a fee or take more classes I think.
One class every three years should be all you need to keep your certification up to date. Your certification is good for three years. To be recertified you'll have to pay a recertification fee and complete 30 continuing education credits. See the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity for more information on recertification.
An automotive mechanic can make anywhere between about $25,000 and $60,000 per year, not including overtime bonuses. The type of experience and certification that a person has is a likely determining factor in their salary. For example, a mechanic just out of high school is more likely to be on the lower end of the pay scale than someone with years of experience and an ASE certification. Some mechanic jobs offer health benefits and others do not; it really just depends on the place.
