You'll have to open and read an Index.dat file.INDEX.DAT is a hidden index of the Web sites that are visited. It is not deleted when you use Windows to clean out temporary Internet files and so is usually available even if you think you have cleaned out your browsing history. These types of files are what police and FBI extract during investigations. The files can be found here, but can be found in other locations. Just do a search for them at the Start MenuC:UsersOwnerAppDataLocalMicrosoftWindowsTemporary Internet FilesContent.IE5Make sure you have Show Hidden Files and Folders under Folder Options enabled, and disable Hide Protected Operating System Files and Folders.NOW - you need a special program to open and read these as they're not normal text files.
It is the most common problem with most of the usb, for back up your files open Kaspersky Internet security and click on "Computer protection status" a new window will open click on "backup" tab, there you can found the deleted files. And.. what you are thinking is wrong..... Actual problem is the virus that makes you feel like that The virus hides the folders and shows the files with .exe extension as folders, it is where you are confused. If you want to open those folders you should have WINRARbecause it will show hidden files also. I think this solves the problem....... for any problem regards this ask me at http://umamahesh88.blogspot.com/ UMA MAHESH

It depends on if it is a brand new computer or not. The only way to tell how many files your computer has is to go to your C:/ drive and search for * this will list all of your files. In the bottom left, it will show a count. This can take up to 10 minutes to index. An average computer probably has anywhere from 80, 000 up to 300, 000.
