Will there be a sequel to the eragon movie?

There will not be a second movie, as far as the public knows. First of all, if there was it would have come out a while ago. Second, they left out way too many charactors to continue. For example they left out Orik, who plays and important role in Brisingr and also Katrina, who plays equally important roles in Eldest and Brisingr. In my opinion they should have spent less money on Saphira and the location and hired at least two more actors/actresses to fill in important roles, like Angela (I <3 Her)

However the movie did earn a profit. Foreign box office was 174 million while the U.S. box office came in at 75 million. Not bad for a movie that could have been much better. I think an almost 300 million dollar world wide take is not bad for a 100 million dollar film based on a book by a kid who was a first time author.

I think a second movie should be considered; at least.

No, there are no plans to make a sequel to Eragon which would be based on the second book in the series, Eldest. This is because the first movie was very poorly received at box office and was one of the worst rated films of 2006.

As far as I know, a second one has not been commissioned let alone made. Eragon has yet to make its money back and it received very poor reviews. Reviews by members of the public who saw it at IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic were also poor. There is talk about The Eldest being made into a film but that was reliant on how the first one did.

There prob will be no second MOVIE because they completely messed up the ending (compared to the book).

Lack of "generic dragon", instead, made huge blue feather bird.

They tried to speed up the story by sending the dragon in space, instead of speeding up time of the dragon's maturity with "childhood" scenes

Town with walls are nonexistent, which is not a smart move, as they have to be touch if a next film is made

They left out the prophecy, and probably intend to "flashback" it in the next movie to save film time

Tried to promote romance too early, where there were none in the book

Major characters did not exist. The villagers are essential in the buildup of character, and the development of Roran in the next book/movie.

they butchered the 1st one. they took out so much of the story and portyayed arya as an elf. they made murtag the son of a shade. the movie sucked. i hope the second one never comes out. THE BOOKS ARE AMAZING!JUST READ THEM.
Contrary to popular belief, the producers of Eragon do not intend to make another Eragon movie. However, they may change their minds when the last book comes out.

(It is still highly unlikely that they will make another movie)
There is no indication the second book will ever be made into a movie due to the lukewarm reception Eragon received.

Probably not, they butchered the movie when compared to the book. The actors did an amazing job with what they were offered, but if they read the book first would not of done it. There MAY be a remake in the future which could lead to a sequel, but I doubt this one will have one.
